Grown in EU: What farmers need to make diversification work

On 24 June 2026, this cross-party event brought farmers’ voices to the centre of the discussion on the future of EU agriculture.

Many inspiring farms across Europe have already embarked on their own diversification journeys. This event provided a platform for honest feedback and a genuine exchange on what farmers need to make diversification work in practice, with five pioneering examples from across the EU sharing first-hand experiences of diversifying their production and developing new business models.

The five pioneer farmers, who shared their experiences, called for stronger EU support to unlock the full potential of agricultural diversification.

The event was co-hosted by MEPs Paulo do Nascimento Cabral (EPP), Barry Cowen (Renew Europe), Thomas Waitz (Greens/EFA), Camilla Laureti (S&D) and Per Clausen (The Left), and co-organised by the Coalition for an EU Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods.
